Outdated, dark, and not suitable for their lifestyle were a few of the key complaints we were given when approached to do this kitchen renovation. Just off the living room, this kitchen was located nicely in the home however wall cabinets above the peninsula blocked nearby natural light from entering. We opted to eliminate those wall cabinets in the new design, providing much more lighting and opening the space to the breakfast nook. We were also able to relocate light switches that were not easily accessible due to their placement at the peninsula. The island was reworked in a slightly bigger footprint to accommodate more storage to make up for the eliminated wall cabinet storage. As the homeowner did not prepare large meals in this kitchen, the double wall oven was removed which allowed for more counter space. 

White, inset cabinetry pairs well with the timeless elements throughout the rest of the home, while the island stands out in navy blue as a central pop of color. With a matte finish on the quartz countertops, the gold veining stands out as a statement. The existing flooring remained, so care was taken in the redesign and installation to be sure that we covered all areas that were covered by previous countertops. Rather than traditional glass doors in the display counter cabinet, a nickel metal mesh was utilized to add a unique textural element, which pairs well with the cabinet pulls.
